This past week both the Men’s and Women’s teams made the trip to Kingston to play their second to last regular season game at Queen’s University. For the women our road trip started with one last practice in the Ryerson gym at 6 pm. Thursday.
On the way down to the lobby of the MAC to get on the Rams bus at 7:30 pm. Dinner was subs on the bus.

And we hit the road.
We arrive in Kingston at just after 10 pm. and check into the hotel.
Everyone heads to their rooms to get some sleep…say goodnight to my teammates across the hall.
Breakfast is in the hotel lobby Friday morning at 8 am.
Heading to get back on the bus at 9 am. for an hour long shooting practice in the Queen’s gym.
Getting off the bus on the Queen’s campus.
One hour of shooting practice in the Queen’s gym to prep for the game tonight.
We head back to the hotel and have to check out of our rooms and consolidate ourselves into three rooms until we head back to the gym at 3:30 pm. Some shower, some watch TV, some work on school work, some take a nap….these activities all happen at the same time in the same room.
Lunch is ordered in around 2 pm…some folks moved their eating and studying to some tables in the hotel lobby.
After a team meeting at 3:30 pm. we get back on the bus to head back to the Queen’s campus to get prepped for the game.
On court warm up at 5:00 pm. and game time at 6 pm. Ryerson Women win their 15th game of the season with a score of 66-61 against the Queen’s Golden Gaels.
Post game stretching and feedback from the coaching staff.
Dinner arrives from Pita Pit which we eat while watching the men’s game. Some even continue working on their laptops during the men’s game.

When the men’s game ended we all got back on the bus to head back to Toronto – departing just after 10 pm. It is not a surprise that some of us fell asleep on the trip home.
We arrived at the Mattamy Athletic Centre just after 1 am. Little time to rest before both teams would play their final regular season game at York University on Saturday evening. Both teams won this last game and we are waiting to see who we will face in our playoff round this coming Saturday night.
Only weeks left in my adventure with these amazing young women.
