I didn’t get home from work last night until about 8:30 and I spent a couple of hours at the dining room table finishing the last details on my dress that was due in class today. I just had to hem the dress and the lining, attach the lining at the back slit on the dress, repair a section of one seam and clip any loose threads.
Today in class was a very exciting. Each student had to bring their first completed garment for review with an instructor. I felt so privileged to be there and to see close up what they had come up with…from seeing inspiration boards in the first month and muslins throughout the fall, seeing the completed garments in the final fabric really brought the ideas and work and creativity to life. The feature photo above on this post is the first garment completed by Hamish, a student that I profiled in the blog in the fall.
Here is a little spot showing what the lab looks like when over 70 people arrive with all their “stuff”.
The rest of the post is a bit of a teaser. I took some pictures of sections of some of the garments – no complete garments, just details. A taste of what is to come.
